Book 2009 “IN GOD WE TRUST” April
THE MAY DAY FAMILY ROSARY PROCESSIONS are scheduled for this coming Sunday. Two are in the Twins Cities area. One is at the Cathedral of St. Paul and the other at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. There will be Fourth Degree Honor Guards at both, and you are encouraged to bring your family and friends to the procession and benediction. Both assemble between 1 and 1:30pm with the procession starting at 2pm. The assembly area in St. Paul is in front of the Capitol and in Minneapolis at the Dunwoody Institute parking lot.
For those attending the exemplification banquet you heard the message of Fr. Robert Altier as he spoke on the moral issues of our country and the power of the rosary to cure these problems. I hope you will take the time to email or call your membership and remind them to bring their family to one of the processions to pray the rosary. Make it an assembly event.
EXEMPLIFICATION RECAP: One hundred and thirty-two candidates including seven priests were exemplified April 18th at The Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park. The new format of the degree was delivered in an impressive fashion and was well received by both the new Sir Knights and those attending. Those attending the Friday night pot roast beef dinner were treated to a wonderful meal and atmosphere to dine with friends and enjoy the “SNAP” a strolling barbershop quartet. Assembly hospitality rooms were open following dinner where many visited with friends. The hospitality rooms add a lot of fun to the weekend. I apologize for not making it to all of them. Following the Friday night practice and meetings after the exemplification the evenings became quite late for this old soldier so I did miss a few. One hundred forty five ladies attended the “Joy of Giving” luncheon. General Dennis Schulstad was inspirational and $1,525 was raised and contributed to the “Minnesota Military Family Foundation”. Illusionist Deacon Tim Zinda put on an excellent performance which was fun and entertaining. The Exemplification Mass was attended by over 600 and concelebrated by six priests with an Honor Guard of 80 Sir Knights. The plate collection amounted to $1,644 which benefited the Crow Wing Chapel Memorial; the Father Hennepin statue memorial and Fort St. Charles. The exemplification welcome banquet was attended by 592 Knights and Ladies. Father Robert Altier was the guest speaker and spoke on the power of the Blessed Mother and her Holy Rosary. In the words of Fr. Altierr, “if you want something done, ask Mom.” Nine Sir Knights were inducted into the Minnesota Fourth Degree Hall of Fame. They are: Fr. Al Svobodny; Fr. David E. Gallus, OSC; Msgr. Francis J. Garvey; Fr. Gregory J. Mastey; Evert E. Lehtola; Frank J. Voight; FM & PSD John T. Bachand; Patrick M. Rein; and Richard R. Herbst. The Nicollet Assembly Exemplification Team did an excellent job in making this a very enjoyable weekend. I extend my thanks and appreciation to all of you who worked on the team, who provided hospitality rooms, who sponsored candidates and who took the time to be with us.

May God bless you in your efforts to build His kingdom and may He continue to bless America.
